Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary, How Does Your Garden Grow?

…pretty darn well if you ask me!  But don’t ask me, judge for yourself…

Melons, broccoli, kale, lettuce, collard greens, celery, squash, eggplant, tomatoes & more!  The kale was immediately made into delicious kale chips, with some kale chip expertise from Dan of Ann Arbor‘s very own The Beet Box!

This has been (so far…) the most successful garden I’ve grown in several years.

Why?

  1. Plants aren’t dying.
  2. Plants are growing & bearing fruit.

I attribute it to experimentation, trial & error, & learning from what goes well & what doesn’t go well. This year, the weather was definitely in my favor. Also, I planted earlier & started some plants inside, well timed. I weed & water & have a couple helpers to weed & water when I’m not home. That plus sharing a little rhyme with the garden now & then is a recipe for success! (note: poetry & freestyle rap is far more effective at growing strong healthy plants than is Mozart. try it on your kids).

It is true that food you grow yourself tastes much better! (at least mine does!)
